Hello lovely ones and happy new moon in Aries! The first new moon of the astrological new year takes place on April 7th (3.24am PST adjust for your timezone) and is a supermoon (meaning the moon is extra close to the earth making her influence all the more powerful) at 18 degrees of the fiery sign of Aries. Aries is the first sign in the natural zodiac and is the ruler of the 1st house; governing our identity, our autonomy and individuality.
This fiery sign is ruled by Mars, the planet of energy, ambition, leadership but also war. If you know any Aries (or Aries rising) in your life then you will no doubt notice they have a fiery edge to them, are ambitious and driven, have a leadership energy about them, and perhaps at times a little bit too fiery - aka argumentative - and in the darkest of the Aries shadow - war mongering! Eek. As always, we want to connect with the light infused characteristics of each sign.
This new moon is conjunct Uranus - the change agent planet, who is associated with sudden change and upheaval - sometimes 'good', sometimes 'bad' - but as those of us on this path know, sudden change is often necessary and ultimately good for us.
It is an intense cosmic window as it has the energies of the Pluto/Uranus square which has been active mainly from 2012 -2015, but are still being reactivated now and then by planetary transits.
Every time I mention at soundbaths that Pluto/Uranus is being reactivated or its energies are seeping in to a particular cosmic window I am greeted with major eye rolling and groans! This is because a lot of people experienced both unexpected upheaval and destruction under the Pluto/Uranus squares (myself included!).
Just as a reminder and for new readers, from Soulstrology's perspective the Pluto/Uranus square is all about the destruction, reconstruction and rebirth of our identities (Aries) and the formal structure (Capricorn) - the 'establishment' in which we live/work/function on a personal level. There has been sudden (Uranus) destruction (Pluto) for the transformation (Pluto) of our identity (Aries) and for a new paradigm/structure (Capricorn).
For all of us this has been taking place in two different houses of our unique natal charts (and please note for this specific new moon please look at where you have 18 degrees Aries and where Pluto in Capricorn is in transit to your natal chart to best understand what exact house themes are playing out for you).
For me it has been my 5th house (love, children, fun, creativity, self expression, hobbies) and my 8th house (merging, union, joint finances, transformation and 'death' of sorts). And I am not going to lie, Pluto/Uranus has been BRUTAL to me at times in the last few years. But when I allowed the necessary destruction and transformation, I have emerged to live in a completely different (and amazing!) new paradigm. It hasn't been easy but it has been more than worth it and with the safe distance of rose tinted glasses of hindsight I can see that every part of the destruction and sudden change (aka rug being pulled out underneath me flooring me on more than one occasion!) was absolutely necessary.
I digress slightly but there is a purpose to me sharing some of my experiences as many of the themes I experienced (albeit perhaps in different houses than each of your natal charts) tie in nicely with the title of this blog post.
Passion, purpose and leadership. It is all of these themes that this supermoon new moon is asking each of us to awaken within. In true Aries season style we are asked to awaken and activate our passion and drive, which will show us our purpose and allow us to be leaders in our own unique way.
And yes, the Pluto/Uranus rumblings and Uranus conjunction may mean that we are forced to have new beginnings by being pushed into our path as a result of having something else pulled away from us.
Life is a series of endings and new beginnings and the only constant we can ever rely upon is change. It is the only constant. So it is up to us to decide how much we embrace change proactively or to what degree we need to be pushed into it; to have the rug pulled out from underneath us so that we are forced to react and by reacting, initiate the change that is our destiny.
For this new moon it is a good idea to meditate upon or journal about how you can proactively awaken your passion and harness the Mars energy in the cosmos to turn it into purpose. In turn allowing this alchemy to help you be the leader you are supposed to be in this lifetime in your own unique way! As I said the other night at a workshop - we all came into this lifetime with a unique purpose and mission - we are ALL leaders in our own unique way and all healers of our world.
We don't need to be gazillionaires (I know that word doesn't really exist but I like it!) or famous to be 'leaders' or to be fulfilling our soul's purpose or indeed to be helping raise the vibration of our beloved planet.
Each of us is meant to be fulfilling our soul's purpose (our passion) in spite of the twists, turns and bumps on the path. And contrary to what society, the media, or even our loved ones may say, we deserve to live in passion and joy and can convert this into purpose and indeed an abundant life!
At this cosmic window, allow yourself to tune into the whisper of your soul, to see what brings you joy and to be bold about indulging in these passions knowing that they are your purpose and will help you become who you are supposed to be.
Do not fear any sudden changes or out of the blue news that makes you feel the rug is being pulled out from underneath you. As I have mentioned previously, with eclipses we often see the 'change' one month afterwards, so it may be that something from last month's Pisces solar eclipse is being activated now to create change in your life. Do not fight it. Trust the process. Do not feel you are being punished which will only lead to victim consciousness and a lower vibration and instead trust that the universe is pushing you to help you.
I am wishing you all the courage and stamina to awaken your inner leader and to align your passion with purpose.
Our world needs you.
Happy new moon!
