Hello lovely ones and happy almost New Moon in Sagittarius!
This New Moon falls at 15 degrees of the fire sign of Sagittarius and takes place at 11.20pm PT on Thursday 6th December 2018 (adjust for your timezone).
As always you can use the Soulstrology zodiac guide below to check where Sagittarius rules in your unique chart, reading for both your Sun and Rising sign.
If you are more of a Soulstrology pro and adept at reading your own chart you can check where 15 degrees of Sagittarius falls and indeed any planets you have between 12 and 18 degrees of Sagittarius because they will be activated, aka cosmically pinged, by this New Moon.
Now, I don’t think I need to tell you all that Jupiter moved into Sagittarius last month and will be there until next December 2019.
And I think you are all pretty aware that mischievous Mercury has also been retrograde in Sagittarius for the last few weeks…
Just after this New Moon, Mercury stations direct….(actually in Scorpio, but right at the end degrees and for the purpose of our work we are focused on his retrograde in Sag).
None of this is a cosmic coincidence but rather a gift from the cosmos to help us make the most of this year long transit of cosmic benefic Jupiter in Sagittarius.
Hopefully you would all have done the cosmic coaching homework which was set out in the Jupiter in Sagittarius blog and done everything RE a la Mercury retrograde (check the Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius blog again if you need a little REfresher or REminder!) with regards to the Sagittarius ruled parts of your chart and therefore life.
So, now what?
Well, think of this Sagittarius New Moon as planting the seeds of the changes (and miracles) you wish to manifest in the Sagittarius ruled parts of your life.
You’ve done all the homework, you’ve tilled the soil (aka your life) and now is the time to plant the seeds.
Unlike a usual New Moon where we think about what we want to manifest for the next lunar cycle, we need to think big (a la Jupiter) and think about the big shifts we will create in the Sagittarius ruled parts of our lives by next December.
We can harness the energy of this New Moon to plant both big intentions, but also planting the seeds of change.
Some of our New Moon wishes may come to fruition by the Cancer Full Moon in late December, others by the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn in January, but many of them will take longer to come to fruition.
Whenever we have a big overarching goal, we need to create little markers along the way to that goal so that we can tick off a box and know that we are inching ever closer to manifesting what it is that we desire.
The whole essence of Soulstrology is to use the lunar cycles and cosmic events as our markers.
With this in mind know that some of the seeds you plant at this New Moon may flower by the next Full Moon, or over the next lunar cycle and the January solar eclipse, but others will take longer, with some perhaps blossoming by the Sagittarius Full Moon next May (which corresponds to this New Moon) and others only coming to fruition by the departure of Jupiter from the Sagittarius ruled part of the zodiac next December 2019.
Manifesting magic is a process which can take it’s good ole time but the process is a necessary one and we can use the monthly lunar cycles as markers on our way to achieving our bigger goals, so that we know we are on track and are making progress.
This is why it is so important to think big at this New Moon (very a la Jupiter, the ruler of the New Moon) and to not only think about what you wish to manifest over the next lunar month but to also have a bigger picture, broader perspective and think about the shift you wish to create by next December when we are once again in Sagittarius season and Jupiter is readying to depart the Sagittarius ruled part of your life, leaving it forever changed, for the better!
You can then use the lunar cycles in between (and Jupiter’s retrograde etc) as markers which can help guide you on your way to achieving your big goal.
So you are perhaps thinking by now, if Jupiter is in Sagittarius and this is a Sagittarius New Moon and the underlying theme is all about miracles, what’s up with the title and Soulstrology theme for this New Moon - ‘miracles come from mayhem’?!
To understand this better we must look at the celestial aspects of this New Moon.
We have Venus (now out of retrograde and retracing her steps at the beginning of Scorpio) opposing Uranus (retrograding in the very final degrees of Aries).
An opposition is a tense aspect which can make us feel out of sorts, and unbalanced (in a Full Moony kinda way).
With Venus and Uranus at play in this opposition this can play out about love, sex, creativity, money, socializing (Venus) and can have a rug pulled out from under our feet kinda feeling (Uranus).
We may feel unbalanced because of something that happens or find we have to deal with polarity and conflict in certain areas of life.
But remember, it doesn’t have to be all bad! By any means.
Oppositions are tense aspects but they can also create miracles and magic (sometimes an opposition forces a hand and an outcome!) even if they are often accompanied by mayhem…
Speaking of mayhem, this New Moon squares both Mars and Neptune whose energies are fused together as they sit side by side in the Pisces ruled part of the zodiac.
Mars and Neptune are uncomfortable bedfellows and Mars is not best placed in Pisces.
So this makes for another tense energy at this New Moon where we may experience conflict and or tension between the Sagittarius ruled parts of our lives and the Pisces ruled parts of life.
With Mars and Neptune conjunct (on top of/beside each other) we can find the shadow traits of Pisces/Neptune are present, namely - deception of others, others deceiving us, delusional overly rose tinted perspectives, being unrealistic, victim syndrome, passive aggressiveness and so on…
Add into this mix that Mercury stations direct (often the worst parts of the retrograde are when planets station retrograde or direct, or in the pre/post shadow periods closest to those retrogrades) shortly after this New Moon and you add to the generally chaotic, confused, muddled energy that is present at this time.
So what do we do? And how do we tap into the miracle making energies of Jupiter/Sagittarius?
Here is where we need to understand Jupiter better and adopt his traits.
Jupiter is the miracle maker because he chooses to be the miracle maker.
He does not go outside of himself to seek the miracle but knows it is within him, and rather is to be revealed.
Jupiter IS the miracle. For himself and others.
Jupiter does the right thing, because it is the right thing to do.
Jupiter shares even when he doesn’t have much, but because he has something.
Jupiter knows that every cloud has a silver lining, every rainstorm has its rainbow and every burden can contain a blessing.
Jupiter knows that amidst chaos, confusion and the mayhem are miracles, waiting to be revealed.
Jupiter has a glass half full optimistic outlook to life and so life reflects that back to him.
He creates miracles because he IS the miracle.
Our job at this New Moon is to do the same.
Maybe this New Moon feels good to you (in which case, yay!) maybe life is doing pretty all right now (double yay) or maybe you are in the midst of mayhem and chaos (boo but yay too as it can be the catalyst for miracles!)
Either way, you can harness the powerful aspects of this New Moon to plant the seeds of magic and miracles to take place (regardless of any accompanying mayhem) in the Sagittarius ruled part of your life over the next year, some of which will come to fruition this month, others over the next six months to a year.
You can harness this by looking at all the tense aspects and the energies that they ask us to look at (things we don’t usually like to look at) and ask yourself what your mindset is regarding these areas of life.
Do you freak out if finances are ‘difficult’ or ‘bad’ or if your love life takes a sudden turn for the worse?
If something unexpected and ‘unwanted’ happens?
Do you contort physically, emotionally, energetically and spiritually with each twist and turn that is the journey of life?
If so, you aren’t alone, but you need to be more like Jupiter.
You need to think BIG about your life.
And not be scared to want a BIG and FULL life.
Full of miracles.
You need to know that you must always look to what you have, rather than what you don’t have.
To count your blessings, not your burdens.
To know that in chaos lies opportunity.
In darkness, there is light waiting to be revealed.
Among mayhem, miracles waiting to be discovered.
You need to know that YOU are a miracle.
To yourself and others.
And that you have everything within you to create miracles in your life and for the world at large.
You need to feel that with every bone in your body and you need to believe it and trust it, at this New Moon and beyond…
We all want miracles in our lives, but sometimes we need to be reminded that manifesting miracles is often more about our mindset and consciousness than it is about the hustle.
And therefore our energies are best directed inward, at our emotional state, or mindset, our consciousness and our energies, because that is where the miracle is birthed, first within, then on the external plane.
