Hello lovely ones and happy almost New Moon!
This New Moon falls at 15 degrees of Aries and takes place at 1.50am this Friday April 5 (adjust as always for your timezone).
Check where Aries rules in your unique chart by referring to the Soulstrology zodiac guide below.
For those of you more familiar with your charts, make sure to check where you have 15 degrees of Aries and any planets which are between 12 and 18 degrees of Aries as they will be activated by this New Moon.
This New Moon in the fiery Mars ruled sign of Aries comes after a particularly murky Mercury retrograde and should serve as a beautiful new start to the astrological New Year and to this new month of April and a new season for us all.
Nonetheless the New Moon also acts as a sharp reality check to each of us.
After the Neptunian fog and haziness of Mercury retrograde in Pisces, Aries season is waking us back up again - hence the Soulstrology theme for April 2019 of ‘Awakenings’.
The New Moon adds to those awakenings through the aspects made to stern cosmic life coach Saturn and the South and North nodes of the moon.
As always at a New Moon the Sun and Moon join together and here they sit at 15 degrees of Aries in the zodiac.
Together they form a challenging square aspect to Saturn who at 20 degrees of Capricorn sits right by the South Node at 22 degrees of Capricorn (our past life, karma, baggage but also what comes easily to us/our default positions).
We all probably know by now that Aries is the first sign of the natural zodiac, the leader of the zodiac pack and is a fire sign who is ruled by Mars and all about action, energy, manifesting, leadership, power, and conflict.
Regardless of our zodiac sign, the themes of our identity, our appearance, how we present ourselves to others, how others view us, will all come up for review at this New Moon.
As we embrace a new season, the start of the astrological year and acknowledge that a quarter of 2019 has passed we are all hopefully thinking about our goals for 2019 and what we wish to achieve, the summit of the mountain that we wish to climb to this year which would mean success for us (whatever that means and looks like).
This Aries New Moon will draw our attention further to these goals and to how we are manifesting them (or not) and to our identity, our appearance, how others view us and how we are managing energy in our lives.
It serves as an opportunity for us to reset ourselves after the first quarter of this year has passed and to harness the powerful energies at hand to set goals (or reset where necessary) and to make the internal shifts which help us create the external shifts.
The New Moon’s square to Saturn serves as a reality check, a wake up call of sorts.
It is to show us that whilst we may have goals we wish to manifest, or visions for our ever evolving identity, there are certain realities we must face.
In some cases this may force us to review and reset our goals, to be more realistic, to understand that perhaps some of our wishes are not manifesting for a reason - because they do not come from the right place (the soul, the higher self) and/or are not truly for our highest good.
In other cases, our reality check, or awakening, may be that we have a lot more to do in order to get to where we want to be, i.e. in order to manifest our dreams.
I don’t think I need to remind you all that Saturn is currently transiting Capricorn - his home sign who he rules - where he is very much ‘at home’ and performing at his best.
In Capricorn he is forcing us to review what success means, what reaching the summit of our professional (and personal) mountain is, what we wish our legacy to be.
He is making us get real about our ambitions and goals and showing us where we perhaps have not dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s or not done things by the book and therefore are not reaping the rewards we desire.
At this New Moon, Saturn’s stern headmaster like review is felt in full effect as he sends that beam of energy to the Aries ruled parts of our charts/lives.
As some of you will know by now, New Moons can often have the same intensity as Full Moons, as the sky is dark and the moon is not visible, and there can be an emptiness that is felt at this time, which can be unsettling.
It is possible that the New Moon/Saturn square will add to this (remember the shadow of Saturn is pessimism, negativity and even depression) especially given that Saturn sits so closely to the South Node (our past lives, what comes easily to us, but what is also our comfort zone and difficult for us to move our way out of) and Pluto - the great destroyer, but ultimately transformer.
There may be an energy of feeling stuck around certain goals we wish to achieve, or in trying to become the next version of ourselves.
We may see that in truth we are stuck in a rut of sorts, a comfort zone, and even the goals we are trying to achieve, or the identity we think is what we ‘should’ be reaching for, is in truth not for us, and that we need to transform, reset and rebirth our goals (Pluto).
Saturn also opposes the North Node (our destiny, what we are supposed to step into in this lifetime, our fate, but what is perhaps harder for us to achieve, but in true Saturn style, oh so sweet when we reach to achieve it).
Here, Saturn shows us the gap between where we are and where we want and need to be, in order to fulfill our destiny and ‘seeing’ this gap can naturally be somewhat unsettling.
But this is where the Soulstrology theme for the Aries New Moon of April 2019 steps in beautifully.
We all want great things for ourselves and our lives. We all have a vision for our 2019 and beyond.
But great achievements and successes require great sacrifice.
All of the aspects at this New Moon are pointing to this concept of achievement = sacrifice.
If we want something we usually need to do something, or give something up in order to achieve it.
In some cases, this will be about internal shifts, creating the space internally, working through our blockages so we can create the space within so we can receive and manifest externally.
In other cases, this is about taking action, doing the work of Saturn, working smart consistently to get to where we want to be.
And, for some this will be about letting go.
I posted something on this theme last week on Instagram as I was musing over the forthcoming New Moon.
The theme of letting go of how we think life should be, so it can be how it is supposed to be.
As per the energies of Saturn, the South node and Pluto conjunct at this New Moon, opposing the North node, for some this is about letting go.
Letting go of what you think you should be achieving, the identity that you are ‘supposed’ to have, so you can achieve what you are meant to and be who you are truly meant to be.
Some of you may be reading this and thinking, oh gosh, after this Mercury retrograde murkiness, I was hoping for better times, but as much as this New Moon may seem heavy, it actually has incredible potential for us to harness so we can reset ourselves and our goals for this new season and make significant headway between now and the Summer Equinox.
I am going to be diving deep into how we can do this in our Soulstrology Scopes cosmic coaching and customized ritual and mantras, along with a message for each sign.
For now, as Mercury is in its shadow and as we continue to reflect on the recent retrograde and integrate those lessons (listen to the April 2019 Member call for more on that) review the Aries ruled parts of your charts/lives (as well as of course in the natural zodiac) and let these themes sit with you and see what comes to mind.
More coming soon :)
